The Many Dimensions of Living a “Fuller life”

Fuller Village Offers a Richer Lifestyle for its Residents

The Social, Physical and Psychological Benefits of Living a Fuller Lifestyle

Much has been written in recent years about improving not only the longevity of one’s life, but also the quality of that extended lifestyle.  Not just from a physical or mental perspective.  Ideally, the quality of one’s lifestyle encompasses many dimensions: physical, mental, social, dietary, etc.

In his books on the Blue Zones, author Dan Buettner describes the common elements he and other researchers have found in places around the world where residents live well into their nineties and even low hundreds.  Factors such as living with purpose, healthy eating, a social atmosphere living with family or friends who share common interests and remaining physically active are just four of the nine factors he describes in his books, “The Blue Zones, Secrets for Living Longer” and “Blue Zones Happiness.”

While Fuller Village did not deliberately set out to design and offer a “Blue Zone” lifestyle, the myriad of activities available to its residents includes many of the elements of a “blue zone.”  Meditation and yoga classes, fitness and water aerobics training, gardening, multiple social events throughout the year, healthy eating options in the dining room and café, all combine to offer an enriching lifestyle for Fuller Village residents.

The appreciation for this lifestyle is evident when talking with the residents.

Everyone was so delightful that we were here and very, very welcoming and that was really special to us.”
— Jeff & Barbara Smith, residents since 2020

“Fuller Village’s setting provides beautifully landscaped grounds for walking with friends, play-ing tennis and working in the community garden.”
— Ruth Chandler, resident since 2011
